Share play is fun and most people like to share play because the friend you are going to share play with doesn't need to have the game or have to download it. However, there is this annoying error which occurs when you try to Share play.
The most common causes why you are getting the error NP-37671-4 when you try to share play or join a share play is due the following reasons:
1. PSN server is down
One of the most common causes of the error NP-37671-4 is that the PlayStation Network server is down or faulty. When the PSN server is down or faulty you won't be able to share play with your friend and you will keep getting the error NP-37671-4.
You will sometimes get to share play but you will instantly get kicked out of the session. Usually when the PSN server is faulty your session will not last that long when you share play with your friend.
The fix
If the error NP-37671-4 is caused by a faulty PSN server you can wait up until the sever is back up. When the PSN server is down, It doesn't take forever.
Alternatively you can check the status of the PSN server depending on the country or region you are in. You can do this by simply clicking this link PSN Service Status and selecting your country or region.
If the server is good and everything is working, All the dots should be green like in the picture below. If not then the sever is down.

2. Network Address Translation (NAT) type
Another common reason why you are getting the error NP-37671-4 when you try to share play is because of the network address translation (NAT) type you have.
There are three NAT types, namely NAT type 3 (Strict), NAT type 2 (Moderate) and NAT type 1(Open).
The NAT type plays a very important role in online gaming including share play. If your NAT type is 3 or 2 then it is the reason why you are getting the error NP-37671-4.
Lets go through how the NAT types work and who you can share play with to avoid the error NP-37671-4.
NAT type 3 (Strict)
NAT type 3 is Strict, hence the name Strict. It does not allow you to connect to any other NAT type unless NAT type 1 (Open). So if you have this type of NAT type it could be the reason why you are getting the error NP-37671-4.
To properly share play if you are on NAT type 3 (Strict) you have to make sure that the person you are share playing with has NAT type 1 (Open). Otherwise you will keep getting the error NP-37671-4 every time you share play or a few minutes into the share play session.
NAT type 2 (Moderate)
NAT type 2 also known as Moderate can connect to it's fellow NAT type 2 and NAT 1. However, it will not connect to NAT type 3.
So if you are on NAT 2 and you are trying to share play with a friend who is on NAT 3 you will probably get the error NP-37671-4. You can ask your friend the type of NAT he/she is on.
NAT type 1 (Open)
This type of NAT is the best NAT type you can get. It is open to all the other NAT types. This means that you can share play with anyone on any NAT type and you will not get the error NP-37671-4.
How do I Check my NAT type on PS4
To check your NAT type on the PS4 go into (Settings) > [Network] > [View Connection Status] you should now be able to see your NAT type on the bottom of the screen.
How do I change my NAT type
Having a strict NAT type means that your PS4 is connected to the internet through a Router and the firewall is enabled and the ports are closed. If you wish to have a better NAT type you can disable the firewall on your router and open all the ports.
Alternatively you can connect directly to your modem instead of connecting the modem to router and then PS4. You can just connect your PS4 directly to the modem. You can also change to LAN cable (Ethernet) if you are using WI-FI.
Once you get a better NAT type you can try share again and the error NP-37671-4 should be gone.
I will post an article on how to improve your NAT type on the PS4 soon.
