How to Connect the PS4 Controller without a USB Cable


Have you ever wondered on how to connect your PS4 controller to the PS4 console without a USB cable? You have come to the right place.

To connect you PS4 controller without a USB cable you have to add it as a Bluetooth device. This way the controller will be synced just like it would have with the USB cable.

How to Add the PS4 controller as a Bluetooth device

To add the PS4 controller as a Bluetooth device on your console use another already synced controller, select (Settings) > [Devices] > [Bluetooth Devices]. 

This should show you paired devices and new devices. 

Now press and hold the PS button and the share button on the PS4 controller simultaneously and wait until the PS4 controller to starts blinking.

It should now appear under the [Bluetooth Devices] as Controller. Select it to sync with it, it should now change to DualShock 4 after it is synchronized.

When Should I synchronize my PS4 controller?

You can synchronize your PS4 controller if it doesn't pair with your PS4 anymore, a new controller or a controller that has never been paired with your PS4 console.

To Synchronize your PS4 controller with the PS4 console simply connect you controller to the console through the USB cable and press the PS button.

I don't have a USB cable and I only have one PS4 controller

If you don't have a USB and you only have one controller that is not synced with your console. You can use either a Mouse or a Keyboard. 

You can use a wireless mouse which has a dongle, connect the dongle to your PS4 USB port and turn on your mouse. It should automatically connect.

Now follow the steps in the above method to sync your controller. Only this time you will be using a mouse to navigate.
