PS4 Power Supply

The PS4 is one of the most popular gaming consoles in the market, and for good reason. It boasts impressive performance, stunning graphics, and an extensive library of games. However, the PS4’s power supply is often overlooked.

In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the PS4 power supply and discuss why it’s important to have a reliable one.

What is a PS4 Power Supply?

A PS4 power supply is a device that converts the AC power from an outlet into DC power that can be used by the console. The PS4 power supply is responsible for providing the necessary voltage and current to keep the console running.

A faulty power supply can cause various problems, including the console not turning on, frequent crashes, and performance issues.

Types of PS4 Power Supply

The PS4 power supply comes in three types: the ADP-240, ADP-160 and the ADP-300. The ADP-240 is the standard power supply for the PS4, while the ADP-160CR is used in the PS4 Slim and the ADP-300 is for the PS4 Pro.

The three power supplies are not interchangeable, and it’s important to ensure that you have the correct one for your console.

ADP-240

The ADP-240 is the standard power supply for the original PS4 console. It provides 240 watts of power and is a relatively large power supply compared to the ADP-160.

The ADP-240 power supply is not compatible with the PS4 Slim or the PS4 Pro, as those consoles use different power supplies.

The ADP-240 power supply is divided into two (2) models. The ADP-240AR and the ADP-240CR.

The ADP-240AR is for the CUH-10XXA models and it has 5 pins which go to the motherboard.

The ADP-240CR is for CUH-11XXA models and has for pins that go to the motherboard.

Ensure that you carefully check your model number before purchasing the PS4 Power supply.

ADP-160

The ADP-160 is the power supply used in the PS4 Slim. It provides 160 watts of power and is smaller in size compared to the ADP-240.

The ADP-160 power supply is not compatible with the original PS4 or the PS4 Pro, as those consoles require more power.

There are two (2) models of the ADP-160 namely ADP-160ER and APD-160CR.

The ADP-160ER is for the PS4 slims that have model numbers CUH-21XX to CUH-25XX.

The ADP-160CR is the for the PS4 slims that have model number CUH-20XX.

ADP-300

The PS4 Pro uses a different power supply than the original PS4 and the PS4 Slim. The PS4 Pro uses a power supply with the model number ADP-300. This power supply provides 300 watts of power and is larger than the power supply used in the PS4 Slim.

Like the other types of PS4 power supplies, the ADP-300 is not interchangeable with the power supplies used in the other PS4 models.

If you need to replace the power supply in your PS4 Pro, it's important to purchase the correct power supply to ensure compatibility and avoid damage to your console.
