Mic monitoring is the process of listening to how your voice sounds through a microphone. It's used for three main purposes: to make sure that you're speaking clearly and accurately, to test your microphone performance and to keep you from yelling.

If you want to be able to communicate with other online players, mic monitoring is an essential tool. You can use it to determine if your voice is being picked up by the other player's. In addition, it can help you find out if there's a problem with your microphone or headset equipment like if they're too loud or causing feedback.

It is also used to monitor the quality of your microphone on your X box one. If you have a good mic, it will help you communicate with other players and coordinate more effectively.

How does mic monitoring keep me from yelling

Mic monitoring will allow you to listen to yourself in real time even when you whisper through your mic. You will hear yourself from the earpiece. This is a very good feature as you will not have to yell for you to hear yourself. This feature keeps you from yelling.

What does mic monitoring do on X box one

Mic monitoring will not affect any of your mic settings. All it does is it puts your own mic audio in the game so that you can hear yourself when you speak. Mic monitoring will also allow you to talk to people with your headsets on without removing them as you will still hear what they are saying through the mic.

How to setup mic monitoring on X box

The process is simple: you'll need a headset with a microphone and your X box one controller. Now connect your headset into the controllers headset jack, this should bring up the Audio menu below.

What is microphone sensitivity

Microphone sensitivity is a measure of how sensitive your microphone is to sound. The higher the sensitivity, the more sensitive your microphone is to sound, and thus the more likely you are to pick up an unwanted noise in the background

The sensitivity level will affect how well your microphone picks up voices from farther away in a noisy room or from people who are talking. A low sensitivity will not pick up ambient noise and other background noise

X box one Mic monitoring grayed out/Not showing

If your Mic monitoring slider is grayed out or not showing check that you have your headset connected properly on the controller. Ensure it is all the way in and not only half way in.
Also make sure you are not using a chat adapter to connect your headset/mic. This will make Mic monitoring to be grayed out or not show at all. Only connect your headset to your controller if you want this to work.
